Skewered Prawns and Aglio Olio Spaghetti

Skewered Prawns and Aglio Olio Spaghetti

Joint Ingredients
10-20 garlic cloves chopped or grated
Bunch of parsley chopped

Spaghetti Aglio Olio
Handful of spaghetti, enough for the family; I’m not making that much because there are 16 skewered prawns!
6-8 garlic cloves grated or minced
Olive oil or chilli olive oil
Red peppers or spicy flakes
1/2 cup of hot water
Chopped parsley

Cook pasta al dente in boil water with salt and a dash of olive oil to keep the pasta from clumping together;
Saute the minced/grated garlic in olive oil for a few minutes.  Be careful not to brown or burn them!  Turn off the flame after the pungent aroma is released, maybe about 2-3 minutes.  Add 1/2 cup of hot water to the pan to prevent the garlic from burning.
Add the parsley and cooked pasta to the garlic olive sauce.
Toss, toss and toss!
Season with a dash or more of the spiced olive oil and salt to taste.

Garlic Butter BBQ Prawns on skewers!
First, leave the prawns in cold water with salt and let live for an hour or so while you chop up the rest of the garlic.  This is going to be a garlicky dish!
Next, to skewer the prawns simply insert the skewer from the tail end of the prawn, through the prawn until the sharp end of the skewer reaches the head.  The skewer should straighten the prawn as though giving the prawn a backbone.  I then place the skewered prawn on the chopping block and slice off its feet and feelers.
After that, marinate the prawns with melted butter with the remaining chopped garlic and chopped parsley.  Make sure you chop a lot more when you are chopping the parsley and garlic from the spaghetti recipe above.  You create this marinade by first melting the butter in the microwave, then added the chopped garlic and parsley to it and pouring or brushing the garlicky butter over the prawns.  Leave for 1-2 hours.

Heat a skillet (we haven’t gotten a BBQ but if you have a BBQ go ahead and BBQ the prawns!)  and then add the skewered prawns to it.  Keep brushing the prawns with the remaining garlicky butter as they cook.  You might also want to add pieces of zucchini and tomatoes to the BBQ/skillet as the prawns are cooking.  Once cooked, the tips of the prawn and prawn heads should brown or blacken.
Then serve with a wedge of lemon.

My boyfriend loved it!
